I don't think anyone could have anticipated that Mike Brown would resigned as FEMA director. But just three days after being relieved of duty in the flood ravaged Gulf Coast, Mr Brown tendered his resignation just as President Bush got his first close up look at the destruction in New Orleans.
FEMA folks say Mr Brown's resignation is no indictment of FEMA's role or his leadership in the Katrina aftermath. They say Mr Brown was already planning to return to the private sector this fall.
Sure hope he's been practicing how to say, "You want fries with that?" (CNN)
