FEMA Director Mike Brown's only emergency management experience prior to heading the federal agency was as a city government intern -- in the late 1970s.
TIME Magazine has taken a closer look at his resume than the Bush administration and Congress apparently did when they nominated and confirmed him as head of America's lead emergency management agency.
The 2001 White House press release on his nomination says he was responsible for "overseeing the emergency services division" for Edmond, Oklahoma. A spokesman for the city government there says he was something of an intern, never a manager and no department heads ever reported to him.
He also padded his resume to claim that he won "Outstanding Political Science Professor" at Central State University. But the University says he was only a student there -- never a professor.
Almost makes that horseshow experience seem impressive. (TIME)
