He Is Experienced in Leaks -- That Could Apply to Levees

Since appointing lawyers to Homeland Security and FEMA worked so well, why not have a political campaign consultant head up the Gulf Coast's reconstruction. The President has named advisor Karl Rove to head up the federal government's $200 billion reconstruction effort. Mr Rove (right) has as much rebuilding experience as Mike Brown had emergency management experience.

From the New York Times:

"Republicans said Karl Rove, the White House deputy chief of staff and Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, was in charge of the reconstruction effort, which reaches across many agencies of government and includes the direct involvement of Alphonso R. Jackson, secretary of housing and urban development."

Retired General Tommy Franks is reported to be the favorite to take over the job permanently.

That might be a good idea to have the General waiting in the wings. Mr Rove is at the center of a criminal investigation over a White House leak of a CIA agent's identity. The grand jury is expected to wrap up it's investigation in the next few weeks. (WashPost/NYT)
