Questions about favortism rise out of $6.4 million in federal contracts going to Alcatec LLC in Mississippi.

The contracts are for Hurricane Katrina recovery work. The amount makes it one of the biggest payouts to a single company from the feds in Mississippi.

They company is owned by a relative of the Governor -- and has had ties to the national Republican Party since the Reagan administration.

Rosemary Barbour owns Alcatec. She's also married to the nephew of Gov Haley Barbour (R-MS). Gov Barbor was a key player in the Reagan administration. Ms Barbour was a college volunteer for the Reagan campaign back then and has become a big player in it today. (NYT)
