Sign of the Times

The Democratic National Committee has launched a billboard campaign in Rep Jean Schmidt's (R-OH) home district (below).

They're taking issue with her comments on the House floor last month in which she called Rep John Murtha (D-PA) a coward. Rep Murtha is a decorated Vietnam veteran. Rep Schmidt was forced to retract the statement. And the person to whom she attributed the quote claims he never said it. (Raw Story)

bullshit, she produced the letter, the guy who wrote it gave his commander permission to accept responsibility for it.

Anon is wrong. Rep Schmidt attributed the quote to a state representative back in Ohio who also servedin the Reserves. He was quick to disavow the claim.

This is from the Cincinnati Enquirer, November 22, 2005:

"Danny Bubp, a freshman state representative who is a colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, told The Enquirer that he never mentioned Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., by name when talking with Schmidt, and he would never call a fellow Marine a coward."
