The Justice Department made a series of arrests this week in eco-terrorism cases dating back to 1998. The arrests are for crimes including a million dollar fire in May, 2001 at the Jefferson Poplar Farm in Oregon, and for attacks on the University of Washington and a USDA operation in Olympia.
The FBI attributes 1,100 attacks and other crimes to ecoterrorist groups since 1976. They account for more than $110 million in property damage. They've been responsible for nearly 35 terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11.
The FBI and Building Association of Washington recently began offering $100,000 rewards for information.
