Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth (left) is expected to announce her candidacy for Congress on ABC's "This Week" program on Sunday.Major Duckworth lost both legs when the Blackhawk helicopter she was piloting took a hit from ground fire and crashed.
The Hotline reports that she's expected to announce her candidacy for the House seat Rep Henry Hyde (R-IL) is vacating just one day before the Illinois filing deadline. State Senator Peter Roskam (R) is running unopposed for the Republican nomination.
Major Duckworth would be running as a Democrat in a traditionally Republican district. But Sen Obama Barak (D-IL) did win easily in the district and President Bush only carried 53% of the vote there in 2004. (The Hotline)
