
The photo used in the ad is two years old, and the soldier was actually watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (left).

Back in the 2004 campaign, President Bush's ad people doctored a photo of troops for a campaign ad for the President. The "Whatever it Takes" ad duplicated soldiers' faces to make it look like there were more in the crowd than there really were. (Slate)
