Kansas University Professor Paul Mirecki says a pair of men beat him and complained about his plans to teach a course critical of intelligent design.Intelligent design is a religious philosophy that challenges the scientific theory of evolution. KU added the class after the Kansas School Board added criticism of evolution to elementary and secondary standards.
Dr Mirecki caught some verbal flak for firing off an e-mail calling conservative religious Christiasn "fundies" and saying his class would be "a nice slap in their big fat face."
He says he pulled over after two men in a pickup truck were tailgating him. And claims they beat him around the head and shoulders. He says the men drove off and he drove himself to the hospital. (Wichita Eagle)
