Ticking Time Bomb in the Energy Bill

Buried away in the 1,724 page energy bill is a feature that makes it easier to export highly enriched uranium (HEU). It could be possible for someone getting the HEU to build a nuclear weapon.

A Canadian medical company wanted the change to make it easier to get an isotope used in cancer diagnosis.

But critics now say the clause could lead to a chain reaction making it harder to keep certain countries -- and perhaps even terrorists -- from eventually getting nuclear weapons. (NYT)
