Accounting Tricks in the Road Bill

The official price on the highway bill is $286.4 billion. But there are some accounting tricks in the bill to hide an extra $8.5 billion.

With the "official" number, the bill is already $2.4 billion over the limit President Bush put on it. He said he'd veto it if it went over that limit.

With the accounting tricks added in, the bill is $11 billion over the President's veto mark. (San Antonio Express News)
