Road to Ruin

President Bush once threatened to veto the highway bill if it went over his spending limit.

With accounting tricks factored in, the bill topped that mark by $11 billion. The President went ahead and signed the pork laden highway bill today. It contains more than 6,000 pet projects costing $24 billion. That's a 50-fold increase over the highway bill Ronald Reagan vetoed for having too much pork.
