Not Everything's Bigger in Texas

The McAllen, Texas Monitor takes on the "bridge to nowhere." It's the $223 million project Transportation Committee Chairman Don Young (R-AK) got included in the highway bill.

It would lead to an island with just 50 people and an airport that handles just 10 flights a day.

The Monitor points out that single project is 13 times what the Rio Grande Valley got from the highway bill -- and it has 1 million people living there. (McAllen Monitor)

Why don't we take that money and buy each individual on the island their own boat and automobile?

At $75,000 for each person, that works out to just $3,750,000... a savings of more than $219-million.

As a bonus, let Don Young name all of the vehicles after family members.
