Protecting the Boondocks with Your Money

Frederick, Texas is ready to redirect terrorists away from targets in that small town. You bought them traffic cones with your homeland security dollars.

Rick Casey, writing in the Houston Chronicle, points out how homeland security money's been spent:
  • 150 traffic cones for Frederick, Texas
  • $7,750 to the False, Pass, Alaska volunteer fire department
  • $1,400 two-way radios for every school in Fort Bend County, Texas -- even though every classroom is equipped with a phone and teachers had already been provided emergency radios to contact the police
Mr Casey points out that so far, al Qaeda has only attacked major cities -- New York, Washington, London, and Madrid. (Houston Chronicle)
