Power & Light Bill: $25,000

Topeka's Westar Energy has admitted to shelling out $25,000 so it's lobbyists could play a round of golf with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) for the sole purpose of influencing energy legislation before Congress.

The Dallas Morning News got hold of court documents showing that the 25-grand got two company officials into a golf game with the Majority Leader at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia.
Rep DeLay actually supported the measure the company wanted passed. But it was taken out of consideration after a grand jury started looking into corporate fund raising to affect Texas statehouse races. (AP)
