Planning Ahead for a Court Fight

The President hasn't even named his first Supreme Court nomine, but the GOP is bracing for a second nomination. With Chief Justice William Rehnquist fighting cancer, there's renewed talk he'll tender his resignation shortly -- perhaps as soon as President Bush's return from the G-8 Summit.

Two vacancies could create complex strategic plans for the President -- offering him a tough fight to put two conservatives on the court or a balancing act of trading the Democrats a nominee they want for a sure thing of getting his conservative on the court.
