Prescription for Disaster

Americans paid $5,267 per person on health care in 2002. A study by John Hopkins University researchers -- appearing in the journal Health Affairs -- shows that's more than twice what people in 29 other industrialized nations paid per capita. The total health care spending in the US was 14.6% of our gross domestic product. In the United Kingdon -- it was only 7.7% of theirs.

Americans without insurance pay the highest prices. They're charged more than insurance companies are charged for the same procedures or treatment. More than 45-million Americans do not have health insurance. (St Petersburg Times)

I wish that most major US firms or businesses would take up the method that Costco uses to offer health insurance for its employees.
