Rove's Best Defense

Jim VandeHei in the Washington Post analyzes the GOP reaction to the Rove Ruckus. He says the idea of "the best defense is a good offense" is taking shape:
"The emerging GOP strategy -- devised by [RNC Chairman Ken] Mehlman and other Rove loyalists outside of the White House -- is to try to undermine those Democrats calling for Rove's ouster, play down Rove's role and wait for President Bush's forthcoming Supreme Court selection to drown out the controversy, according to several high-level Republicans."
But that could explode if the grand jury issues indictments. Even some of Mr Rove's supporters say it's hard to believe that an investigation that's landed a reporter in jail for contempt -- and took a fight over the First Amendemnt to the US Supreme Court -- won't end up without someone under arrest.
