The Shuttle may not have gotten off the ground Wednesday -- but Congress did. The Associated Press reports that 44 Congress members flew down to watch the launch -- at a cost of $73,000.
The Air Force flew 35 of the Congress members on a pair of C-40Bs -- that's two 737s to us civilians. Those cost $7,960 an hour to operate. And that comes to $63,680 of your money.
NASA hauled nine other Representatives down on a corporate jet at a cost of $9,456.
The Shuttle launch was scrubbed because of fuel tank problems. But at least your Hired Hands on the Hill got a nice little trip out of it. (AP via the Guardian) [Photo Credit: NASA]
