The First Supreme Court Nomination of the Internet Age

The blogoshpere spun into motion quickly after President Bush nominated John Roberts to the Supreme Court.

About 50 A-List liberal bloggers held a 45-minute conference call to get their ducks in a row before cranking up a unified buzz. It was put together by an outfit called BlogPAC.

The fact that Judge Roberts has not emerged as more controversial may take a lot of wind out of liberal bloggers' sails, though. Bloggers' great strength in affecting politics is in finding a wealth of facts through their sheer numbers and building a consistent, focused story on a key issue.

Judge Roberts short paper trail makes for fewer targets.

At the same time, there seems to be little enthusiasm from bloggers on the right for Judge Roberts. He's not a "movement" conservative -- who would rally the most vocal conservatives.
