FBI agents who were supposed to be looking out for terrorists have instead been assigned to monitor civil rights and environmental groups.
The Justice Department admits it has 1,173 pages in its files on the ACLU and another 2,383 pages about Greenpeace. The groups have filed paperwork to look at thier files -- but the FBI says it'll take almost a year to get all the papers ready for release.
One document that was released was from an outfit called "United for Peace and Justice." An FBI memo went out last year addressing counterterrorism units in Boston, LA, and New York about the group's plans for protests at the Republican National Convention. (USAToday)
