Not the First Time Karl Rove was Suspected

White House advisor Karl Rove ran into charges of leaks around 13 years ago. That time, the allegation alone was enough to cost him his job. This from CBS & the Houston Chronicle back in 2003:

"The Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday [September 30, 2003] that in 1992, Rove was dismissed as a consultant for the Bush-Quayle Texas campaign after he was suspected of leaking a story to Bob Novak and then-partner Roland Evans about problems in the campaign.

At the time, Rove denied he was the source of the leak, the Chronicle says."

Did Mr Rove fail to come clean with the current President Bush two years ago? This is what the President said the day after this report in the Chronicle:

"I don't know of anyone in my administration who has leaked. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action."

Mr Rove has since admitted to telling Matt Cooper of TIME magazine that Valerie Plame was a CIA agent, though he says he never used her name. (CBS) [Photo Credit: The White House]
