USS Vincennes Decommissions

The Navy decommissioned USS Vincennes yesterday. The Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser is most famous as the ship that accidentally shot down Iran Air Flight 655 on July 3, 1988. At least 290 people died. The incident happened in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War. The ship's crew thought the plane was an Iranian Air Force F-14 headed toward the ship.
