Pentagon auditors have turned up $1.3 billion in "questioned" costs and another $548 million in "unsupported" costs in Halliburton's Iraq contracts. At the same time, a top Army procurement officer turned whistle-blower -- Bunny Greenhouse -- told Congress that Halliburton produced the worst federal contract abuse she's ever seen:
"'I can unequivocally state that the abuse related to contracts awarded to KBR (Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root) represents the most blatant and improper contract abuse I have witnessed during the course of my professional career.'"
--Bunny Greenhouse, Testimony to Congress
Ms Greenhouse saw Halliburton in action while serving as lead procurement officer at the Army Corps of Engineers. (Australian Broadcasting Company)
