DP World -- the state-owned UAE company poised to take over operations at six US ports -- has offered to delay the takeover. White House aide Karl Rove brokered the deal for a delay.
The transfer was supposed to happen next Thursday. But Mr Rove said a delay was acceptable.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey -- which owned the World Trade Center -- announced Thursday they would sue to block the sale allowing the UAE take over of US ports.
DP World has gone from a small company operating the Port of Dubai to one of the world's ten largest port operators in less than 15 years.
The company is reportedly surprised by the uproar in the US over thier planned takeover of operations at a half dozen ports. (WashPost)
