"The wackos get their information through the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees. Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them." -- former DeLay aide Michael Scanlon in a memo highlighted at a Capitol Hill hearing on November 3Salon calls it the "the source code of recent Republican electorial victories: target religious conservatives, distract everyone else, and then railroad through complex initiatives."
Mr Scanlon was outlining political strategy for how he would protect an Indian tribe's gambling business.
Wonder how Rep DeLay's supporters like being called "wackos" by a guy who worked for him? (Salon)
