It's Nice to Have Connections

A little over a week after an Army contracting officer called Halliburtion an example of "the most blatant and improper contract abuse" she'd ever seen, the Army has handed the company another $4.97 billion in contracts. It's for work in Iraq.

Halliburton has already earned about $9.1 billion on contracts in Iraq.

This year's contract is about $1 billion more than the one Halliburton picked up last year.

Vice President Dick Cheney ran Halliburton prior to joining the Republican ticket in 2000. Halliburton has been under fire recently, accused of overcharging taxpayers for services in Iraq. (Reuters)
