Liliana Plata came to the US from Mexico illegally. Once she got here, she paid $2,000 to buy a stolen Social Security number. She got caught. But the Travis County, Texas prosecutor has dropped identity theft charges.
Why?
Seems Ms Plata came to the US and stole the Social Security number so she could join the Air Force and fight in Iraq. The prosecutor criticized her shortcut but praised her devotion to the US. Airman Plata's immigration status is still up in the air. (Yahoo!)
