POLITICS -- All We Have to Fear is the Next 83 Days

In God We Trust, Politicians We Take With a Grain of Salt. A TIME magazine poll shows that 45% of Americans believe the Bush administration would manipulate a terror warning for political gain. The Bush administration is drawing fire for blowing a Pakistani spy’s cover inside al Qaeda in what appears to be an effort to cover their own selves. To back up the validity of the alerts, the Administration named Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan as a source behind the info. But al Qaeda didn’t know he’d been arrested. And the Pakistanis were using him to lure other terrorists into traps.

The Best Ad-Libs are Well-Rehearsed. Ever notice how our language challenged President moves so smoothly through those town hall meetings on the campaign trail? The events are more carefully rehearsed than anything Ronald Reagan did in Hollywood. (USA Today)

20/20 Hindsight. President Bush challenged Senator John Kerry to explain where he stands on the Iraq War and Kerry’s vote giving the President the authority to go to war.
Kerry now says, "Yes, I would have voted for the authority." But Kerry says the President and his people have fumbled the peace – and that’s what he’s campaigning against. "Why did we rush to war without a plan to win the peace?" (WashPost)

"That’s My Fault." General Tommy Franks takes the fall for President Bush’s much-derided "Mission Accomplished" photo-op last year. (CNN)

Hot Stuff Coming Through. Police stopped traffic on an Interstate for 20 minutes to let Vice President Dick Cheney get to a $1,000 a plate fundraiser down south. There was another 20 minute delay getting out. Hmmmm. Wonder if anyone stuck in traffic thought about telling him to #@$& off?
