Cattlemen Take Their Beef to Court

Know those "Beef -- It's What's for Dinner" ads? Some cattlemen don't like it. More to the point, they don't like paying the special tax to the USDA that pays for the ads. They want some of their own input into the ad campaigns. The Supreme Court takes the matter up on Wednesday. It may have implications for other such campaigns:

  • "Cotton -- The Fabric of Our Lives"
  • "Pork: The Other White Meat"
  • "Got Milk?"

The Court struck down a mushroom promotion program in 2001. (WashPost)
