ABC's Nightline will air "The Fallen" again this year -- this time on Memorial Day. Sinclair Broadcast Group will actually allow their stations to carry the broadcast this year.
The Fallen is a reading of the names of those Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan in the past year. The ABC press release about the show, along with a listing of all the names of servicemembers -- state-by-state -- who have died between May 1, 2004 and May 23, 2005. (DC Fishbowl)

One of the most moving programs I've ever seen to honor fallen veterans was held in Skidmore, Missouri druing one of their annual Freedom Fest (see www.skidmorefreedomfest.com). They called the name of a service member (that served in Vietnam) from each state that was either listed as KIA, MIA or POW. When the name was called someone would respond with, Not here sir, give the persons status and release a balloon. It really hurt to hear the responder say (in the case of a POW/MIA) Not here sir, left behind and forgotten by his fellow country men. This Memorial Day please remember the Veterans of all wars, don't let any of them be left behind and forgotten by their fellow country men.
God Bless America, God Save The Republic
