Former Rep Tillie Fowler (R-FL) had died at the age of 62, two days after a brain hemorrhage. Campaigning on a platform of "eight is enough" term limits promise, she retired on schedule after four terms in the US House. During her tenure there, she was a major player on defense issues and rose to rank as the most powerful woman in the House at the time -- fifth in the GOP leadership.
