Reserving Comments
The General in charge of the Army's reserves says reliance on Guardsmen and Reservists to fight America's wars threatens to create a "broken force." LTG James Helmly also warns the increased bonuses for active duty threaten to create a "mercenary" culture in the ranks. General Helmly fired off a memo saying the Army Reserve is no longer able to meet commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also warns the Reserves can't "reset and regenerate" for future missions. It extends the concern that the military may be stretched thin and unprepared for another war. (CNN)
