Record Doctor Bills

For the first time ever, Americans' spending on health topped 15% of the gross national product -- $1.7 trillion. Spending growth is slowing, from 9.3% in 2002 to 7.7% in 2003. But it's still growing faster than the economy as a whole and taking a whole lot more of our personal income. (NYT)
