The Hidden Tax of Health Care Costs

Health care costs are one of the biggest hidden taxes in America. General Motors is the largest purchaser of health insurance in the country. It expects to spend $63 billion on health care for its current employees and retirees. Though fewer than 200,000 people work for GM, the company pays for the health care of 1.1 million Americans -- roughly one half of one percent of the US population. Think about how that ads to the cost of the next car you buy. (NYT)
