GAO: Few U.S. jobs lost to 'offshoring'

"Outsourcing" or "offshoring" is a big political issue, but it has a relatively small affect on the US job market. It involves shipping jobs overseas for cheaper labor. A General Accountability Office study used the Labor Department's Mass Layoff Survey to determine that only 13,000 of the 1.5 million layoffs in the 2003 survey were due to "offshoring."
