Paying Survivors of those who Paid the Ultimate Price

President Bush is getting some criticism from unsuspected quarters over his plan to raise death benefits for troops killed in combat from $12,000 to $250,000 -- Congressional Republicans and the Pentagon don't like it. They say it doesn't go far enough. Critics say the benefits should be extended to all troops -- including those training for deployment -- who die on the job. (Boston Globe)
