Mmmmmm. Pork.
Coungress is wrapping up work on budgets and secretive saucey spending plans -- loaded with pork. "Pork Barrel" spending is federal money, sent to Congressmen's pet projects at home. Generally, it is not originally included in a budget plan, not requested by the President, not debated on nor voted on by the full House or Senate, and added in secret during conference to the final plan. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is one of the biggest critics of pork and puts out an annual list of what got by. (Houston Chronicle)
