Gimme Shelter

Congressional Republicans are working to dilute measures aimed at cracking down on abusive tax shelters. The crackdown is part of a corporate tax bill that would give big business $170 billion in tax breaks. A study for the IRS last year showed abusive tax shelters cost taxpayers $12 to $18 billion a year. You get to pick up that slack. But corporate donors to politicians like the shelters and are pressuring Congress to go easy on them. (Houston Chronicle)
