Deputizing Lawmen
In a first of it's kind order, Attorney General John Ashcroft has quietly issued a directive allowing the FBI to draft other federal law enforcers to help disrupt terrorist attacks meant to disrupt the November 2 elections. It would allow the FBI to pull in officers and agents from the US Marshals Service, DEA, and ATF for anti-terror work. (USAToday)
