$7,000,000,000 a Month

Washington's spending $7 billion a month for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And the Congressional Research Service predicts the war will have cost $570 billion by the end of 2010.

The CRS also found $14 billion worth of gaps in the Pentagon's accounting. It appears the military diverted the extra money from other accounts to the war effort.

Meanwhile the Congressional Budget Office says current troop levels in Iraq cannot be sustained easily. It says the Pentagon will have to rotate troops in and out of the war zone more frequently or use more National Guard. (NJ.com)
