Photo Op Gimmick of the Day

It's hard to steal a President's thunder on the day he delivers his State of the Union Address. Harder still to distinguish yourself from all those in his party parrotting a President's promises or those in the opposition deriding them. But Rep Bobby Jindal (R-LA) may have his finger on the pulse of the gimmickry. Iraqi voters dipped their fingers in purple ink to show they'd voted -- to prevent multiple voting. Rep Jindal plans to show his solidarity with Iraqi voters by dipping his finger in the same purple ink before the President's speech. Of course, he won't have to dodge terrorists, insurgents, or suicide bombers -- but it's the photo-op that counts. (Guardian)
