Candidates, their parties, and allies have tripled the amount of money spent on campaign ads in 2000. More than $600 million in commercials bombarded voters. Democrats and their groups have outspent Republicans by $40 million. Oh, and that "Holy Toledo" reference in the headline:
Toledo, Ohio held the record earlier this year as the market that saw the most commercials.
