Not as Bad as First Thought -- But Still Bad

The federal deficit probably isn't as bad as first thought -- but it's still pretty bad. The CBO now estimates the 2004 red ink at $415 billion -- instead of the $422 billion it predicted earlier. That's $41 billion over last year's record. (Reuters)
