Armor All

An Ohio company has come up with new lightweight armor for Humvees. The big all terrain trucks are the main way US forces get around on the ground. And they've become the favorite target of Iraqi insurgents. Regular armor adds 3,000 pounds and slows them down. The new armor doesn't add as much protection, but it doesn't add as much weight either. It's only 750 pounds. The DoD has tested 75 of the armor kits in the mid-east and ordered 400 more.
