My How Time Flies

Jokes about long waits at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (or whatever your state calls it) probably predate the "Tin Lizzie."

Indiana bureaucrats had a brilliant idea about all those complaints -- they banned clocks in their bureaus. The logic is that if you can't see a clock, you won't notice how long you've been waiting.

No word on when they'll order you to surrender your watch at the door.

Mind you, it's hard enough to tell the time in Indiana as it is. There are 77 counties using EST, 10 counties on CDT, and 5 more on EDT.

But as a public service to all my readers waiting in line at the BMV, here's a clock showing the time for most of Indiana:
